DES MOINES, IOWA — November 14, 2012 — The fifth annual 2012 Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit (IES) held November 10, 2012, at Drake University’s Olmsted Center proved to be successful with a record number of attendees. Four hundred seventy-one participants from 43 different countries partook in various business seminars and used the day as an opportunity to network with fellow attendees.
IES’s mantra “let’s grow together” was supercharged by its attendees, business partners and volunteers. “The event is a demonstration of collaborative efforts from the SBA to IRS as well as the Governor’s office to county supervisors and city officials to the Greater Des Moines Partnership. The mission and initiatives of IES is greatly supported by all levels of government and non-profits,” states Sa.
Following the seminar, entrepreneurs will use the information learned to kickstart their business. Following the 2011 summit, 138 new companies were formed by attendees, and with the steady growth of participants from year to year, founder and co-chair Ying Sa is enthusiastic that even more companies will form after this year’s event.
The sixth annual 2013 Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit is scheduled for November 9, 2013.
