The sixth annual Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit reached record-number participants
Des Moines, IOWA — November 11, 2013 — The sixth annual 2013 Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit (IES) shattered attendance records with 507 participants from 40 different countries.
IES’s mantra “let’s grow together” was supercharged by its attendees, business partners and volunteers, who enjoyed a day of learning with 15 hands-on seminars on ways to start or expand their business. Attendees also enjoyed keynote speeches from both Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Gov. Terry Brandstad.
“The mission and initiatives of IES is greatly supported by all of our business partners, volunteers and Governor’s administration,” states Ying Sa, founder and co-chair of IES. “To expand our access and resources to the immigrants around the state, we will be visiting four different regions and hold mini sessions next year.”
The mini sessions will kickoff in January and continue its course throughout at the following locations:
- January 14, 2014 – Cedar Rapids, Metro Economic Alliance
- April 22, 2014 – Iowa City, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach
- July 22, 2014 – Davenport, Wells Fargo
- September 23, 2013 – Sioux City, Emma’s Event Center
The mini sessions will be followed by the seventh annual summit on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) FFA Building in Ankeny, Iowa.

The summit will exhibit the success stories of immigrant entrepreneurs, and business owners will share ideas for business growth and their keys to success. Participants will be able to network and learn from others in a non-competitive and supportive environment.
